ABC K is for Katharina Sketch

We are so lucky to be joined by Katharina on ABC this week. She has draw us a fantastic sketch to follow.

This is Henry's 1st birthday card - he was 1 last thursday. I have watercoloured high hopes small mikey (brought especially as Henry adores monkeys). I hope you like the card. Here are a few pictures of Henry on his birthday.

Penny Black Saturday - Season

A quick card I am afraid as I am a bit under the weather and feeling very low at the moment. My friend is coming over with some more herbal remodies for me as the Doctor thinks I am suffering with PND again, doesn't help all these dark horrid days. I decided therefore to do a nice spring card to cheer myself up. I am not sure if it needs anything else - let me know.

PIF - A gift of friendship

hugs x
Just remember once you receive yours to offer this gift of friendship to 3 others on your blog x

Think Pink - Breast Cancer Tilda

Magnolia have a special Tilda collection coming out for supporting breast cancer. I think everyone knows that I lost my own mother to this horrid disease 3 years ago. For every comment left on the blog link they will be making a donation towards breast cancer research - you also have a chance at winning the collection.

Lili of the Valley Challenge 1 - Welcome

I enjoyed this challenge - I don't have any Lili of the Valley stamps at present, I am going to have to wait till the end of next month or put on my birthday list I am afraid. Here is my welcome card. I decided to do a generic baby card as I will not do specifically until a baby is safely born, (comes from having 2 prems and 2 friends whose babies died sadly just after birth). I hope you like it x

Whiff Of Joy Challenge

I don't know what happened here - it started off well, I was pleased with how I had coloured the image, then I realised that although I had blue Christmas Paper, I was out of silver and had no blue or silver embellishments left - doh! So here is my effort, until I can get one done in colours I actually have - I will link it to the blog at the last minute, if I don't get chance to make a better better one. I think I have basically gone of stickers - oh well lots for the boys scrapbox!

Whiff of Joy Designer Call

I have decided to have another try at a guest designer spot on a Whiff of Joy as I just adore their stamps so much! This is my entry. I have used sketch 24 of Katharina's and have just moved the oval to off centre to balance the quote (the defination of inspiration, ideal for a DT challenge card, I thought) and to allow me to add a bow. The papers have been fauxed stitched and the image has been distressed around the outside as I did not like the effect that a border had, it took away from showing that the paper backing it is actually flowers and letters and postcards which match the image.

I have really enjoyed making this card, and I used only the girl from the Sugar Nellie (Elizabeth Bell - Postbox) as I have used the postbox on the envelope instead. I think it works brilliantly, I hope that you do too.

Papers - K and Co - Life's Journey and Classic K
Ribbon - Papermania
Flowers - Prima
Jems - Hobbycraft
Medium - watercoloured

eta - the details of the DT Call can be found on Katharina's Blog

ABC - J is for Jewels

This is my DT piece for ABC's J is for Jewels. I have fauxed stitched the papers to give it come depth. I decided to do a double oval as I wanted a contrast to the pinks and did not want to many straight lines as I had already stamped the image on an oval. I think it works what do you think?

Papers - Basic Grey, Sugared
Flowers - Prima
Jewels - Papercellar

SBS18 - Sketch

I am sponsoring the challenge this week on SBS18 and as well as a bundle of ribbon, I am giving you the chance to choose 20 stamped images from my entire collection. I will email the winner a list of stamps that I own and they can choose from them the 20 images they want. Better than having alot the same as what you own isn't it!
Well the sketch is one of mine, a copy can be found on SBS18. The papers are a basic blue stock sheet and DCWV Blossom and Butterflies. The image is A Whiff of Joy, Willow drinking hot chocolate which has been coloured in with watercolours. The flowers and brad are papermania. The lace is from stash, I hope you like x

Sneak Preview

Hi everyone,

Sorry that I have not posted much but I have been trying to get ahead with my challenges on ABC as it is my baby boys first birthday this week and I know that I will not get chance to craft this week as my husband is off so we can go on daytrips to the Zoo etc.

I thought you may like a sneak preview of 2 of the cards that I have made.

This monkey is a high hopes stamp, and forms part of my card to Henry. I cannot show you all the card as it is a sketch that Katharina has kindly done for us for K, so check out ABC on the 1st October for full details.
This is part of my Guest Design Team Member on SBS18 this coming week. So check out my blog and theirs for further details on Wednesday.
Hope everyone is well.
Hugs Vicky x

SBS18 - Thank you DT Card

I did a quick card as a guest designer on SBS18 this week as they were short of cards. I used one of my Clutterbee Bugs that I had not used before and although very effective, I think I prefer the single line of faux stitching.

Happy Birthday Jenny

This is the card I have made for Jenny's birthday tomorrow. It is based on a sketch from the Sarah Kay Challenge.
Tilda is coloured in in watercolours and is wearing pink. The backing paper is from my spring DCWV matstack, ribbon is papermania as are the brads. Flowers are prima. I hope you like x

Sarah Kay Challenge - 3 Designer Papers

This is my entry to the Sarah Kay Challenge this week. The 3 papers used are K and Co. There is a brown stained wood as a bottom sheet above the green backing paper, then a floral tapestry print and the emotion is cut out from another sheet in the same range. I have used a square formation of the elemnts and put the image slightly off centre to allow for the emotion paper. The lace is from my stash and the flowers are prima. I have added a drop of gold glitter glue in the centre of the flowers as I thought the brads for the centres would dominate as would beads my other prefered option. I hope you like, if the image is too dark let me know and I will try and get a better photo.

Penny Black Saturday - One for the girls, Cute Card Thursday - Cats and Dogs and Happy Birthday Steph

One card to cover all 3! Sounds like the one ring from Lord of the Rings! Penny Black image which I love called CatBath, there is one very simular with a rabbit which I am very tempted to get. The papers are basic grey, ribbon papermania, flowers are prima, and brads are papermania also. Backing card is from stash.
I hope you like x

My Step-Uncle's Birthday

This is a fab image stamped for me by Cathy. I have used it for Tony's birthday (married my aunt earlier in the year). As the stamp is so large, I have simply mounted it on Laura Ashley paper which was a rak of Jane.
Hope you like x

Spoonful of Sugar and My first Whiff of Joy card

This is my first inked up Whiff of Joy stamp and she is lush, she reminds me of my sister who always seems to be curled up with a cup of tea, hence the message sister at the bottom.

The papers are stash and Laura Ashley, ribbon is stash, flowers are prima and the beads are papermania. I hope you like x

Suzanne blog candy

Suzanne, a very talented lady, one of the brilliant design team on Whiff of Joy stamps is offering a gorgeous Candy including a Melinda stamp! She also has a poorly cat at the moment, which needs lots of get well vibes.

She wants to know what your favourite movie is. Now I have several that I love and watch lots, Notting Hill, Sound of Music, Wizard of Oz, Lion King....but....my all time favourite is a realitively unknown film from the 1970's called 'The Amazing Mr Blunden'.

I religiously must watch this on average once a month and I am word perfect on it. I first watched it as a child and it's magic has stayed with me since. It was also the first film I really showed to my two boys. I even paid a stupid amount from a book dealer for a copy of the book - 'The Ghosts' by Antonia Barber as I just had to have it. The story is about 2 children who following the death of their father (WW1)move with their mother and baby brother to a remote country house where she acts as Caretaker on the recommendation of an elegent elderly gentleman, and the encounters they have there. i don't want to say too much as it will spoil it for you. If anyone is interested in it, you can get a copy here for uk and here for usa.

ABC Design Team - H is for Holidays

I made this weeks ago and then there were lots of christmas and blue and white challenges and I was so desperate to enter it in those, but I had already promised it for the ABC Challenge. Tilda is pulling her sledge ready for christmas. I have cut her out using my friskars (which I am still getting used to and ruin more than are successful), and mounted onto silver card. I have drawn a arc from one corner of the card to the other, and cut it out and mounted a silent night (anitas) page on the inside of the card. I have added sequins and embellisments from last years stock and raised them with sticky pads.
I hope you like x

Personal Challenge Number 5 and Katharina Sketch number 1

This is my interpretation of the sketch as I don't like putting emotions on cards. The image is an Elizabeth Bell Sugar Nellie, the lace is stash as are the flowers and gems.
I hope you like x

Personal Challenge Number 4

This one of the first Tilda stamps I ever brought and now looking at it again I am not sure if I still like it. A very quick card here, Tilda watercoloured, mounted on lilac card and the papers are papermania. The flowers are prima and the brads making memories.
hope you like x

Nessy's blog candy

Can you believe it Nessy had a birthday on the sly and did not tell me! So hun there is a purple glittery card just a bit further down on my blog, that if you email me your address I can put it in the post to you!

Now not only is she the guest designer on ABC this week, she has fantastic candy to give away so I would nip over if I were you x

Shopping and colouring medium questions

Just abit of advice from people to where they shop, for what items. What is better value from one place etc etc just to give me an idea of where else there is out there in cyberspace selling craft stuff.

Shops I know about, and have brought from -

  • Glitterpot - stamps and paper
  • Sir Stampalot - stamps and paper
  • Cuddlybuddly - prima flowers
  • Craft at home - clutterbee bugs
  • Krafty Krafts - stamps and brads
  • Whiff of Joy - stamps
  • Funkykits - stamps.

I am also looking at trying another medium and not sure whether to go down the marker route or the ink route - I would really like to get a starter set (which won't break the bank) to begin with, any suggestions, or does anyone know of any tutorials out there - thanks x

Mad scheme idea number 2 - Who is up for it????

Ok this is really crazy now and I am wondering who is up for it! My daft idea is why don't we all raid our image boxes for those forgotten coloured ones, and then our scrap boxs for the paper and make cards following Katharina's sketches from 1 to present and then donate them to a charity of your choice for fundraising - what do you all think?

Personal Challenge number 3

Gosh I am on a roll tonight - Admittedly that the images were precoloured ready to mount, which has saved time. This card was started for Donna's bling it on on the SBS Challenge site, but due to my sons not being well, it never got finished till tonight. Recognise the paper, yep I am using up my scrapbox as well, aren't I being good. I have figured out the blurring problem it is the exposure correct on the computer, but as these are not for competition, I think that they look fine in the small state. Image is Elizabeth Bell's penpal. Hope you like x
ps inspiration for the ribbon off Cathy's blog from a sketch she found.

My personal challenge number 2

Bad lighting again I am afraid. I have used one of my favourite layouts again to show of Patchwork Tilda. Backing card is stock and the lilac paper is papermaina. Flower and motive are stash - hope you like x

Pictures of my boys and I

I went to a Sealed Knot (17th Century Reenactment) party over the weekend and I dressed my sons up, as they looked really really cute, I wanted to share with you a photo of each of them.

Sarah Kay Challenge - Sketch

Yet another card I am not sure about - doing well this week aren't I?! It is my favourite image (along with Rosie's Garden). I have used Laura Ashley backing papers. The lace and ribbon are stash. The flower is a papermania one as is the brad. I feel like it needs something else but I am not sure. I am not going to enter it just yet but wait and see if I can come up with something better.

Blue and White Tilda

This was the card I made for the blue and white tilda challenge on tilda and co and never got round to publishing as it did not quite gel to me. I am still not 100% sure of it. The papers are a mixture of anita's blue christmas, the blue and white Cathy gave me so not sure where it is from. Tilda is the new patchwork dress one, the flowers are prima and the ribbon is papermania.

First of my personal challenge charity cards

This is using a stamped image that I have had in my box for ages, which I love but never had used. I actually painted it up months and months ago, but it got buried.
The paper is papermania, the flower is prima, the jewels and lace are stash. Hope you like x

Whiff of joy blog candy

Inge one of the whiff of joy DT is giving away a precious Whiff of Joy stamp and some of other candy - please nip over and check out her blog x

A Challenge

I have been sorting out my craft box and realise that I have over an inch high pile of images coloured ready to use and an entire box of papers. There are some in there I had completely forgotten about as I have been loving my sarah kay and sweet ebonies so much with K and Co papers. One of my friends is chair of his local rotary club this year, so I have decided that I am going to make a load of cards for him to sell towards his personally charity goal from all of them - so look forward to lots of cards on here that don't belong to a challenge competition. I was talking to my husband last night and showing him some of the magnificent cards on the blogs and how sometimes I feel I can just not compete and feel like mine aren't good enough, so I have decided to make cards again for me and fun not purely as competition entries.

Infact Oakley looks so like Ed I should send some of his madcap pictures to Katharina to use as images!

I can't wait for them to arrive!!!!

Stamping with Sarah Kay Challenge

This is my entry for this weeks Stamping with SarahKay. Please excuse the quality of photo, I think that it is noticable that the dark evenings are drawing in as I cannot seem to get the light right. I think I may invest in a daylight bulb to help with my painting and crafting this winter.
The image is Rose's garden - the number one stamp on my wishlist. Cathy kindly gave me this stamped image. I have used K and Co papers to follow the sketch and added prima flowers, with glitterglue holding small pearlised beads in the centre. The lace is from my stash as is the dark green card backing. I have fauxed stitched the elements too to tie in with the lace. I hope that you like it x

abc - gift

I was stuck with this theme so my friend who glass paints Paula, offered to give me a hand and this is what we came up with a photo frame. The little boy is my youngest when he was only a few days old and is one of my favourite photo's. I hope you like it x

Edwards Birthday card for Beth - cute card thursday

Cathy's youngest Daughter Beth is 2 on thursday and Edward has made this card for her raiding my scrapbox so I am sorry but I cannot begin to tell you what paper is what! The ribbon and name tag I had made ready for my own card for her but he pinched them straight away as witht he prima flowers - so I need to start my own card for her again. Tilda has been coloured with felttips, unfortunately no embossed papers were used so I cannot enter it into the tilda and co challenge! I hope she likes it!
eta - I have entered this in the Cute Card Thursday Competition which is pink this week as I think it qualifies beautifully!

The sketch with Sarah Kay that wasn't - a card of disastors

This was meant to be my entry into the sketch with Sarah kay, then I realised I had the elements the wrong way round - doh and I had already stuck them down! I then decided to use this sugar nellie image on the card instead only to finish the card and notice there is a smug on her hand - I can't win at all. So a card that started off nice and went pear shaped!

Tilda and Co - Embossing

Ok I decided to try something different and not use any faux stitching although my hands were desperate to get my cutterbee bugs out. Tilda is green purely because I still had my green papers out from trying to decide what to use for the Sarah Kay challenge! All the papers are K and Co which I adore at the moment. The flowers are prima and I have added a little gem on them. The sticker motive is stash hope you like x

Sarah Kay Challenge - Purple and Green

I should say thank you to my best friend Cathy for this card as most of it was made with RAKs from her. The base of the card is dark green card from papermill, which I have also used to mount the image. The backing paper is papermania from their amythest range. The green ribbon is a bit from my stash which was originally an offcut. The lace ribbon is my favourite at the moment and I wish I had brough more, but it looked nothing in the bundle but I adore it. The swirls were done for me by Cathy on her clutterbug. The flowers and brad are papermania. I have watercolour penciled the image then used my blending pen on it, still not sure about the pen though.
I hope you like x
